Whereas therapy tends to focus on your past and why you developed an eating disorder, coaching focuses on the present and how you can implement practical steps toward reaching your recovery goals. A coach helps you take action and move forward with day-to-day behavioral changes. Our work together is collaborative and goal oriented.

A coach does not diagnose or treat patients and is not a substitute for a therapist or dietician. By focusing on the daily aspects of recovery, the work of a coach complements the work of and supports the goals established by your treatment team.

I provide accountability and offer text support for those in-the-moment situations when you are struggling to change disordered behaviors.

As a recovered coach, I am trained to use my personal experience in your best interest and to serve as a model for recovered living.

I can collaborate with your dietician to help you implement nutrition goals, and I can provide meal support and help you take action, such as facing fear foods and challenging food rules.

I cannot assess your nutritional needs, prescribe a meal plan, or give nutritional advice. What I can do is help you make changes where you feel stuck, such as letting go of food rules, rituals, and behaviors. What would you like to be able to do with food but find you cannot? What would you like to be able to stop doing with food but find you cannot? I can help you come up with a plan and support you in taking action to reach those goals.

I am based on the east coast in the U.S.A. and work with clients worldwide, time zone permitting. Sessions are virtual but can also be in-person if you are located in Connecticut.

Typically, I meet with clients on a weekly basis, but this is flexible as benefits your needs. A weekly schedule tends to be most helpful with consistency, which is key in recovery. We can meet more often if you need more frequent support and less often if you are further along in your recovery.

I work with clients suffering from all types of eating disorders, compulsive exercise, or disordered eating.

You deserve help with or without a diagnosis and do not need one to work with me.

My work as a coach complements the work of your treatment team, so as long as your team agrees, then yes! I'm happy to support you while you're in IOP or PHP.

Currently, insurance companies are not covering or reimbursing for recovery coaching. The landscape is changing, however, so hopefully this will be an option at some point!
